On Saturday, April 27, 2013, it's time to make way for the Poesies, the Second Annual Open Poetry Slam Competition, brought to you by Jitters Coffee HouseKillbuck Valley Writer's Guild, Pomerene Family Care,True Nature RetreatNature's Food MarketBookworms, LLC and the Christian Homestead Annex located within Bookworms,Larry's Music Center, the Amish Country Theater, Park Street Pizza, Simple Gourmet Syrups, Jana and Bill Martino, and The University of Akron Wayne College Holmes County Higher Education Center.

Poets, poetry lovers and those who are just plain curious, come take part in Millersburg's second annual family-friendly poetry slam, a high-energy performance poetry competition in three rounds, where competitors will face-off for special awards and cash prizes.Co-hosted by columnist John Lorson and Poesies founder, , the evening will also include a panel of community judges and presentations by amazing guest performance poets. The competition is open to poets (and audience members!) of all ages and levels. Poets should prepare three original pieces--metered, free-verse, haiku, narrative, whatever floats your boat--each less than three minutes in length, in preparation for three rounds of competition judged on content and performance. Memorization is not necessary, but will greatly improve chances of winning.
